PROCEDURE

  1. REPLACE CYLINDER BLOCK STUD BOLT

    Note:

    If a stud bolt is deformed or the threads are damaged, replace it.

    1. Remove the cylinder block stud bolts.

    2. Apply adhesive to the holes for the cylinder block stud bolts (A) on the cylinder block sub-assembly. Install new cylinder block stud bolts (A).

      Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1344, Three Bond 1344 or equivalent

      20 N*m  { 204 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf }

    3. Using an E5 "TORX" socket wrench, install new cylinder block stud bolts (B) and (C).

      3.0 N*m  { 31 kgf*cm, 27 in.*lbf }

      2.0 N*m  { 20 kgf*cm, 18 in.*lbf }

    4. Apply adhesive to the holes for the cylinder block stud bolts on the crankshaft bearing cap. Install 2 new cylinder block stud bolts to the crankshaft bearing cap.

  2. REPLACE CYLINDER BLOCK STRAIGHT PIN

    Note:

    It is not necessary to remove a cylinder block straight pin unless it is being replaced.

    1. Remove the cylinder block straight pin.

    2. Using a plastic hammer, tap in a new cylinder block straight pin to the cylinder block sub-assembly.

      Pin B 7.0 mm (0.276 in.)

      Pin E 7.5 mm (0.295 in.)

  3. REPLACE CYLINDER BLOCK RING PIN

    1. Using a plastic hammer, tap in a new cylinder block ring pin to the crankshaft bearing cap.
