DESCRIPTION
The No.1 vacuum switching valve assembly (for EGR cooler) is controlled by the ECM, and the opening and closing of the EGR cooler bypass valve is performed according to the vacuum applied by the vacuum pump.

Read freeze frame data using the GTS. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

Inspect the No. 1 vacuum switching valve assembly (for EGR cooler).

CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE (POWER SOURCE OF NO. 1 VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE ASSEMBLY (FOR EGR COOLER))
Disconnect the No. 1 vacuum switching valve assembly (for EGR cooler) connector.

Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (NO. 1 VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE ASSEMBLY (FOR EGR COOLER) - ECM)
Disconnect the No. 1 vacuum switching valve assembly (for EGR cooler) connector.
Disconnect the ECM connector.
Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Replace the ECM.

REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
If the voltage at the No. 1 vacuum switching valve assembly (for EGR cooler) connector is not 11 to 14 V, repair or replace the harness and connector between the No. 1 vacuum switching valve assembly (for EGR cooler) and EFI-MAIN relay (including the EFI NO. 1 fuse).
Repair or replace the harness or connector.

CONFIRM WHETHER MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Turn the GTS on.
Clear the DTCs.
Powertrain > Engine and ECT > Clear DTCsTurn the ignition switch off and wait for 30 seconds.
Turn the ignition switch to ON for 3 seconds.
Turn the GTS on.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
Confirm that the DTC is not output.
